Dusty Rose Muhummad Ali Center Louisville Kentucky Wedding
Clink. Clink. Champagne glasses were raised.
“Cheers!” A chorus of ‘cheers’ echoed around the room.
Boom! A flash of lightening accompanied a clap of thunder. The rain pounded the glass windows in the background. But the celebration continued.
After both of Alysen’s sisters, Erica and Kelsey, gave their speeches, Alex (Jordan’s brother and the best man) finished his, toasting to his brother and new sister-in-law. Then Erica (the maid of honor) grabbed the microphone back.
Nervously, she looked around to the other members of the bridal party.
“We have one more thing to say…”
There were three long seconds of slightly awkward silence.
Then, right on cue, the entire bridal party burst into song…
“It’s like raaaaaaaain on your wedding day!”
It was the most beautiful rendition of Alanis Morssiette sung by 20 people I’ve heard. Ever.
The impromptu performance was a beautiful ode to the torrential down-pouring of rain that was present the whole wedding day.
One of my favorite things about Alysen and Jordan is that they have super tight knit group of friends. The kind of friends that have grown up together. The kind of friends that were there together through braces, first crushes, learning to drive and are the same friends that were there together during college graduations, first houses, and weddings. They have gone through so many seasons of life together. I had the honor to photograph Jenna & Andrew’s wedding almost a year ago. I can’t wait to see who gets married next September! ;)
Alysen & Jordan, I don’t know where to start! It’s been so amazing to watch you all during this season of life as you got engaged, planned one heck of a party, and entered into marriage. Celebrating with you all (and all of Galena’s best alumni!) was so. much. fun. I admire how tight your tribe is and love that you all have remained close friends growing up together. Can you guys bring your friends to every wedding?! Alysen, you are so kind, taking care of everyone else on your own wedding day, you’re so intelligent and stunningly beautiful. Jordan, I love how you keep Alysen laughing. That’s so, so important. I can tell how much you enjoy being her best friend. Don’t ever forget to keep her laughing. That will get you all a long way in this thing called marriage. Thank you both for being such incredible people. I adore you both!
Are you engaged?! Let's have a coffee date so you can tell me all about you two!
